For every occasion there are a pair of shoes. They are not just a piece of clothing or equipment, they are a companion of sorts. We travel everywhere with our shoes from a stroll through the local grocery store to hiking the mountains in New Mexico. When purchasing shoes we can spend hours searching for the right brand, color, style and size. However, we often neglect the more critical details of function, quality and comfort. In fact, it may seem it is only by chance that you buy a "favorite" pair of shoes.
Last week, I dusted off my spring and summer gear and went for some challenging hikes in the beautiful Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico area. I can tell you that my summer gear and clothes were not the only places that seemed to be dusty. My lungs and joints were a little "dusty" from the long Chicago winter, too. It was my first time to New Mexico and I welcomed the warmer temperatures with open arms and fell in love with the landscape. Although the ultra dry climate and altitude, took some getting use to.
It is technically Spring already, but the warmth of spring is lagging behind. This makes it seem like Winter will never leave. Fortunately, the weather forecast is showing warmer days here in the Chicagoland area, giving us some relieve from the cold days of Winter. I am definitely ready for the warmer and sunnier days of Spring. I am also ready for bright green leaves and colorful flower blossoms, which are a sure sign that - YES - Spring is here!
In an effort to be transparent with my "green" progress, I am going to give updates every so often on what I have changed to become more green. I truly believe that you should practice what you preach. So here goes...
Last year, I was pregnant and had my first child. So naturally most of the green progress I made was related to baby "stuff." Although I made a lot of green decisions, I feel like my life was a bit on hold last year. And no matter how hard you try to control spending and consumption, when you have a child you naturally spend and consume a little more.
Workouts over time can become quite complicated. But in many cases keeping it simple is a much better way to go. Therefore, I am starting a series of blogs that are all about “keeping it simple” with your exercises and workouts. For this first blog in the series I decided to discuss squats.
